As an avenue of design that we particularly love, we were eager to begin the design process of creating Exclusive Books' mobile app.
We opted to use various shades of blue to create an application that conveys a feeling of calmness. Much like the feeling that you’d get when reading a book! Our aim was to create a design that is aesthetic, yet simple and easy to use (our users are of all age groups, thus, we should also cater to those who are older). We designed our icons and buttons with this simplicity in mind. For the primary illustration, we chose to star a monstera plant alongside a pile of books and a warm cup of coffee. This again ties in with the feeling of calmness. For the finishing touch, we animated it. We also chose a legible and good-looking typeface. To maintain a neat design, we used a square grid throughout the design process. We used this grid as a starting point and then separated all of our elements using the same dimensions, or multiples of the same dimensions of a single grid square.
